OUTOTAIKA CLAIM number 8027/1. 4,4 hectars
The claim is located in Palopirtinoja, a minor river running into the River Ivalonjoki, in the Commune of Inari in Finnish Lapland.

Digging is made by hand with traditional methods, in other words gold is spouted and washed with a pan. Also a crack suction apparatus is used to suck up gold from the rock clefts. The beautiful and fragile nature of Lapland is respected, and the digging is based on the principle that only minimal marks are left in nature after the activity. The water purity needs special care in the areas below the digging place.

OCCURRENCE OF GOLD
Gold originates from rocks. It is has ended up into its current locations because of disintegration, continental glacier and water erosion. In the claim, gold is found mixed with gravel and in crevices of rocks. Gold nuggets moved with gravel by means of water, and they are sunk on the bottom of brooks and rivers down onto the bedrock, because gold weighs 19 times more than water and 6-8 times more than gravel. When panning gold, also other precious minerals as platinum, titan and semiprecious stones are found. The most common semiprecious stones are dark red almandine, granats, green epidotite and green-and-red unacite. A trained stone collector can find also corunds (Compared with ruby and sapphire on Moh´s scale hardness 9, while diamond 10).
